There is a desire by six independent community colleges to collaborate on aligning key business processes and systems using more efficient, more secure, and fully integrated enterprise wide systems as the foundation. This vision includes but is not limited to, comprehensive Student Information Services (SIS), Human Resources and Financial functions.

This project allows independent colleges to collaborate on aligning key business processes and systems using a common more secure and more efficient enterprise resource program (ERP) as the foundation. The participating institutions include: Clovis Community College, Central New Mexico, Northern New Mexico College, San Juan College, and Santa Fe Community College.
As part of NMICC's efforts to collaborate across its membership for the good of its students, faculty, and staff, the NMICC Board of Directors approved a charter identifying initial initiative opportunities to enhance and expand its shared services future vision. NMICC identified five overarching rationales in the pursuit of shared services:
1 - Improve the student experience by increasing modernization, accessibility, and mobility resulting in higher enrollments and better student retention
2 - Increase college productivity, capacity, collaboration, and access to data and reporting by aligning business processes
3 - Share staff and skillsets across institutions during project implementation and on-going system maintenance to address significant difficulties of hiring specialized technical talent across the state
4 - Contain technology costs by leveraging economies of scale by together selecting a single cloud/SaaS system, allowing for modern technology currency and reducing the need for many third-party systems
